In Stem Cell Symphony, the heroine (a stem cell researcher) meets a man afflicted with Huntington’s disease, which is incurable. She cures him using rock ’n’ roll, which he listens to through earphones. She also testifies before Congress. |

Slaughter is a horror novel, but it’s also got humor and the Kentucky Derby (and talking animals) in it. This author and I have become good friends by now. Early on, I kept telling him he "had some 'splainin' to do," so now we call each other Ricky and Lucy in our emails back and forth. |

Remember the Words is a romance novel of bittersweet love and loss. I've edited several romance novels, including one by an author in South Africa whose first language is not English. |

I Gathered Stones by the River is the coming-of-age story of a young black woman who discovers her psychic abilities and learns to see the people around her more clearly. It's a very touching story, one of several I've edited for young black writers. |

Time Camera is an action/adventure novel. The author, an Australian lawyer, liked a couple of my ideas so much that he actually put me in the book. I have only a couple of lines, but it sure was fun to see myself in that scene on the airplane. |

Redeeming Stanley is a hilarious tale of true love, old gods, bitches, bestiality, burnout, and above all, payback. Big time payback. It was enormous fun to edit, and I am now editing a second, very powerful, novel by this author. |
I’ve edited more novels than I can remember—romance, action-adventure, science fiction, western, amateur detective/mystery, historical, speculative, horror, and novels I can only speculate that the author wrote for therapy or wish-fulfillment. (Nothing wrong with that!) I must confess that they’re not all good novels—in one horror novel, a man becomes an ingredient in a kitchen-sized kettle of soup—but I support every author’s right to write his or her book. My job is to help my novelists write books that people want to read.
